Works well with some of my autistic clients also. They love taking pictures with the goggles, etc on their face and love the reinforcers that pop up! Great job!” ***** “It's such a simple concept, yet my child absolutely loves it. He loves imitating the other children which surprises me with his developmental delay. Very cool app. It's worth the purchase.”

  • Why on earth are you charging $9.99 per month for an app like this?!

I was disappointed to see that you have switched to a subscription model. Most schools and state run facilities cannot purchase IAPs or subscriptions due to strict purchasing rules but would be able to pay to purchase an app up front. So if you only offer a subscription based option you will be severely limiting the user base for the new app. Also, how on earth did you come up with the pricing for your new app? $9.99 per month = $119.88 per year. I find it unbelievable that you found any SLPs or parents who said they would be willing to pay that much. If they used your app for two years it would cost as much as many robust AAC apps. In a comment in a post in a SLP Facebook group you indicated that you have plans to release a full paid version of this new app. I hope that you rethink your pricing strategy and offer an app that is affordable and that I can recommend to parents and fellow SLPs. In the meantime, please remove OMazing Kids from the wording in your app description. I would never recommend this new app with the current pricing. Update: This app developer is luring folks in with the promise of a free short trial and then charging a $9.99 per month subscription fee. They are also misusing the names of several SLP blogs including my own to promote that new app. On their website they include quotes from reviews for the original app and number of users from that app and are trying to pass them off as being related to this new app. It took a social media blitz to get them to remove the OMazing Kids name from the description for Speech Blubs on the App Store but I just saw they are still using my name on their website and linking to a blog post about the first app. I have updated that blog post with a warning to hopefully force them to quit using the OMazing Kids name on their website, any social media or any app stores (Apple, Google Play, Amazon or any others that might appear in the future). They have seriously messed with the wrong speechie…. I am very active and vocal on social media, am in almost every SLP Facebook group that they might try to lure SLPs in and am definitely not afraid to call them out. Update #2: The app developer finally removed OMazing Kids name from their website but still are misusing names of other SLP blogs in the app description. I have been in contact with all of these SLPs and they have repeatedly requested that this app developer remove them. Just saw this new update which would have been a good opportunity for the app developer to honor their requests. But they did not. Update #3: Was intrigued by the offer of free access for SLPs so I was willing to download the app again and give it another chance. The loading time for items was way too slow. Deleted the app again. Still hoping the app developer will consider lowering the subscription fee they are charging parents. • My clients LOVE this app!

I started using this with my clients that are not imitating or interested in clinician directed activities. They really enjoy the fun features and pop up rewards for imitation. As an SLP, I like the ability to turn off the voice for kids who can't handle it. This is a great tool to promote carryover with parents as well!

My son is mostly non verbal. He loves using this app. Thank you so much for filling a need for parents like me. I could never get him to make these sounds or move his mouth.
  • Awesome for stubborn kiddos

I have a functionally nonverbal five year old. Has some speech but is extremely hard to understand and leaves out a ton of sounds. It is like pulling teeth to get him to practice sounds. This app makes practice enjoyable. Yes the subscription cost seems like a lot, but if my kiddo makes progress it will be worth it. I intend to update my review after a few months to include information about progress.
  • Extremely overpriced

I liked the first app, First Blubs. It was a one-time cost of $6.99. It was fun and engaging for some of my clients. However, with the new updates to the app, the developer has decided to up the price to a subscription-based model of $9.99/month or $119.88/year. I do not agree with this model and think it is extremely overpriced. So that being said, I cannot recommend this app. I don't think it's worth what they are asking, just to be 100% transparent. I find it extremely hard to believe that SLPs and parents would be willing to pay that price for this app. Many SLPs, myself included, don't receive funding for apps and have to purchase the apps themselves. I could NOT justify spending $119.88/year on ONE app like this. In the app, it also states, "Therapist recommends," but I'm not sure who this "therapist" is since the app was not developed by a speech-language pathologist. It is also somewhat misleading, as no app should replace speech and language therapy. I also would like for me, as a therapist, to be able to change the recommendation. Positives: -video modeling can be effective -the use of stickers, animals, and silly hats is engaging Things to Update: -the price to a one-time cost ($6.99-$9.99) and not a subscription-based model -to be able to change the time recommendations for practice -not all models of the words and sounds are ideal--some are held out too long or the incorrect production of the sound So you can decide for yourself if this app is worth it. I would recommend doing a trial first to play with the app. If you choose not to continue, make sure you delete the app and cancel the subscription prior to the last day of the trial.
  • Too expensive

This app has some real potential, however it is too expensive and the "first words" are too complex for a struggling child.
  • Does not work

I signed up for the free trial and it never gave me a trial. I then contacted them to cancel and tell them that it did not work and I was charged anyway.
  • Subscription price

I didn't realize this is a subscription app instead of a one time purchase when I downloaded it. How nice it would be if developers didn't place profit over helping children. I'll be deleting it and focusing on providing my child with in-person speech therapy and lower cost apps.

I tried the free trial. It took too long for the intro to each new sound/word and the little ones I work with had lost interest by the time the interactive part began. Then it was difficult to reel them back in. While I love the idea and it is very cute, the monthly subscription is priced too high. I can't justify spending that much money on any app.

I was looking for an app. that someone had shared about in a course I took. I thought this looked like it, so I downloaded it. I was disappointed. I'm not sure where this list of first words came from, but it does not seem to align with the first words kids typically begin to say during language development. I did not go through the entire list, but most seemed to be nouns. It does not seem as though this app was well thought out to align with speech therapy and does not seem to be in alignment with research. For something with a monthly payment, I expected much better quality and functionality.
