Textfree gives you a real US phone number so you can text or call anyone, even if they don’t have the app. Textfree uses your data or Wi-Fi connection to keep you in touch with friends and family all over the globe—and with features like group messaging, picture messaging, international texting & calling, emoji, stickers and voicemail, it’s the only messaging app you’ll ever need. All for free.  YOU CAN’T BEAT THE ORIGINAL Textfree was the first free texting app in the app store. True story. Since 2009, Textfree has helped millions of people stay connected with friends and family. Since then, a lot of new and nifty features were added, but one thing’s always remained the same—Textfree is the fastest, most reliable and easiest to use texting app out there. SEND UNLIMITED FREE TEXTS & REAL MMS PICTURE MESSAGES With Textfree you get free SMS texting, totally free and unlimited. And now, Textfree is the first free texting app enabled with real MMS picture messaging just like a carrier phone – no strange looking links. That means you can send picture messages to all your friends, even if they don’t have Textfree! REAL PHONE NUMBER INCLUDED Not many free texting apps let you choose a real phone number. But having your own local phone number means you can call your grandma’s landline, order a pizza, SMS any number, and of course, hit up all your friends, even if they don’t have a smartphone. TEXT FREE WITH GROUP MESSAGES Textfree is the perfect free texting app for group messaging with all your contacts. You can create groups, leave groups, add participants and let everyone be part of the conversation. FREE CALLING  Free calling has never been better. Textfree-to-Textfree calling and any incoming calls are always free. Outbound calling minutes are easy to earn or super cheap to buy. Who doesn’t love free calling? TURN ANY DEVICE INTO A PHONE No phone? No Problem. Text free has you covered. Textfree turns your iPod or iPad into a phone, so you can text and call for free. Plus, calls sound great over Wi-Fi. • Email password prompt

Hoping a dev reads this - your app, and only your app, prompt me for my personal email password (it looks like an official Apple sign-in prompt) when I open your app. Just your app. My email is signed in on my phone, there are no issues, yet your app still asks me to do it. I can cancel the pop-up and continue using the app with no problem - but why would your app be ever asking me for a personal password for anything??? Otherwise, I’ve used this app for years without relative issue. Sure, the increased asking cost to remove ads (used to be one price for a year, now its a subscription *eyeroll*) is certainly annoying, and the quality of phone calls is usually not good, but it’s been a reliable method for texting.

Yes, it has ads but you expect that with free. You get 10 free calling minutes and can earn more by watching ads.

I’ve had this app for years and had a specific number assigned to me that I used everywhere. Also when I traveled, I would forward my phone to the app number and it was very convenient. Now out of the blue I open the app and instead of my old number, I get a random number assigned to me every time I open the app. All of my calling minutes are gone. If someone calls me or texts me to my old number, I have no idea where those messages go. I don’t have access to those anymore. All of this without a warning! Very disappointed. This app is unusable now. I’ve moved on to a different app now and will never use this one again. What a let down for the loyal customers. I emailed customer service but never heard back.

If possible. Always enjoyed this feature which allowed the sender to see if the message was read. Any chance of getting that functionality back?

Very Handy extra phone line. Usually works without any problems. Sometimes internet reception plays into things. Not at all certain how secure it is while sending & receiving texts or phone calls. That would be nice to know. And it would be nice if texts could be longer without sending out in fragments.
