  • Great app but just one problem

    By MeltheSupernova
This is app is great. I like how you’re able to talk to a native and that I can make friends from different cultures. The only issue is changing my profile picture. I especially had the issue first starting the account. It wouldn’t let me choose a picture at all. But besides that, everything else is great. ☺️

  • Ao far, so great!

    By Kitusne12
I’ve only been using this app for maybe a week or two, but I already feel like I’m gaining knowledge and experience. Just being able to think about my language more and USE it in just casual, average conversations is really helping me cement the grammar, words, and writing in my head. So far, all the people seem really nice and eager to learn and share their culture with others, which definitely makes this a fun way to study and grow. I would recommend this to people who are serious about learning another language and who are not able to immerse themselves in that language. It helps a lot. ;)
  • Notifications for ads as if it were message

    By Uevf
Send ads as if it were message coming in from a language exchange friend. This notification really irritates me. Also does not show the ages when you look through the listings at first glance. You have to click on the person and open up their profile to see the age of the person. This wastes a lot of time

  • A great practical way to acquire a new language

    By Americanito
As a polyglot myself, I know that the aid of a native speaker will help get those intricate nuances of languages you can only understand when get real deep into a culture, in a way that a classroom cannot achieve. I congratulate the developers for helping bridge the gap between vaguely knowing a language and achieving fluency.

This is the first language exchange app that I have used and I am happy with the results. Most of the people I have met on this app are tolerant. They don’t carry too much pride. Everyone I talk to wants to learn a language. If you need a language exchange app this is the one look no further you are in the right place friend.
  • Overall good!

    By DommiArt
I have used this app for over two years now. I think this app is a great idea, and overall implemented very well. I use Hellotalk to practice Japanese, and find that overall people are courteous and honestly want to learn. I quite like the Moments function, and in my experience people use it to share pictures of where they live, or ask many people for language corrections, which is great. Now, there are many superfluous posts like “ Please teach me English!!!”, but I think it is a small price to pay. I do wish that Moments allowed for video posting, though. Many times there are short clips of concerts or scenery that I would love to share with people. As for sexual harassment, whenever it has happened, it is generally handled quickly in my experience. However, I do know of a few notorious people that keep rejoining the app despite being blocked many times. There is not much that can be done for those people, but hopefully they will learn someday. There are some people that are more interested in finding a foreign girlfriend/ boyfriend, but it is easy to find these people and kindly decline or misdirect them. I have had this issue on an off, but sometimes my app will show unread messages, but I cannot see them. Before I would have to delete and redownload to fix it, but as of today when it did it I was able to fix it by closing and reopening the app. It isn’t a huge inconvenience, but a bit annoying at times.
