Yesterday I updated the app. Then I turned it on. Now it won't let me turn it off. The app won't stay open, and when I turn vpn off in the settings, it comes back on! I tried re-starting my iPad. Still won't go away! Help!

I've been using Avast! for my anti virus for years on all of my computers, both Windows and Mac, and have been highly satisfied. Since using their VPN on both my iPhone and MacBook I have been just as satisfied; I feel that my browsing is safe and secure, especially while I'm roaming on WiFi with my phone. I wish it would auto reconnect more reliably, but for the most part it works great. **EDIT** I now have only one issue with this app, but it's annoying and aggravating enough to warrant a star drop; the auto connecting whenever I'm on cellular data or Wi-fi networks other than my home network works great. However, when I am at home, the app seems to auto *disconnect* from the VPN service within 5 minutes of my having to manually connect it. Just because I'm on a password-protected Wireless network does not mean I don't want my data traffic *outside* of my network (i.e., all Internet traffic) unencrypted. Bottom line Avast!, I want my Internet traffic encrypted *at all times*. That's why I bought this service. **2nd EDIT** The latest update (4.2) introduced a new issue that I've seen others post about in here as well; the "Connect via" bar simply shows and ellipsis after those words and no server choice. The server list is also completely blank, so I cannot choose my server location. I've had to downgrade back to 4.1.2 for full functionality. I'm also still having the issue of the VPN failing to remain connected while on the same, steady Wi-Fi network, and while on LTE; the latter of which happens after only a minute or so. Using "automatic reconnect" still causes my phone to fully disconnect from my Wi-Fi network while the phone is on standby, so I have to keep that option disabled.

It's been crashing and I had to delete and reinstall the app after a latest iOS update. What gives?
  • Disconnects, & new "connect via..." bug

The VPN seems to work well most of the time, but regularly quietly stops working (a couple times a week?) - you lose your internet connection and don't know it until you realize you're no longer getting notifications, etc. Not sure if that is also true when "automatically reconnect" is turned on, but it is significant problem. Also, this August 2017 update completely broke the "connect via..." feature. You can't select which country/ servers to connect to - that list is missing, blank - and it now just says "Securely connected via " (With no country indicated, & no text saying closest or best server).

Happy after a year. Quick on and off switch. Did not work in one airport while traveling because all VPN's were blocked. If I had known this it would have saved me a lot of time trying to figure out what the problem was. No fault of Avast except not informing users of disabled areas.
