Learn Spanish, French, Italian, German, and many more languages with Babbel, the shortest path to real-life conversations in a new language. Developed by a team of language learning experts, Babbel has helped millions of people speak a new language with confidence. The Babbel Method Here’s what makes Babbel more effective than any other language learning app: 1. Confidence — Our goal is to get you speaking from your very first lesson. And our elegantly designed courses give you the confidence to get there. We teach you how to engage in practical, everyday conversations, making it easier for you to have authentic experiences in your new language. 2. Comprehension — Our lessons immerse you in relevant culture and real-life conversations. We want you to really take in the language, not just memorize useless phrases. And we provide helpful hints in English (or your native language) to make your new language more relatable. 3. Retention — We know you’re busy. That’s why our lessons are short but sweet: about 10-15 minutes, and designed to send your new language straight to long-term memory. We regularly refresh your memory with our dynamic review sessions, which target areas where you need improvement most. Finally, we make sure you really grasp what you’re learning by bringing it back later in a new context. • French Babel App

I started out like the App but by the time one get to the 3rd lesson and the lesson with Part 1 and 2, they want to throw on into verbs when we hardly have ANY NOUNS for beginning French. Children would NEVER LEARN English if parents started conjugating verbs to them. It would be okay to do this but, they show it once and one has to know all forms of the verb AND HOW TO SPELL IT! This would be better if they introduced about 100 nouns first. Then come back and introduce verbs with multiple choice EVERY TIME. Then introduce the spelling of the verbs and at the end of each lesson, have a repetition drill. There aren't enough nouns for beginners in lesson one for beginners. There isn't enough repetition of verbs before one has to sort out the difference AND SPELL them. There were such problems with voice recognition on several sentences. I had to try five or six times. It will sound like: Vou Zet but won't read anywhere close to that when trying to spell. Too much was taken on too quickly without enough trials for learning the difference between verbs, pairing, sound, and spelling all thrown in on one lesson. Terrible! THIS would be a great program if they thought more of how language is actual learned. It would be nice to have a back button at the end of every lesson asking if you want to repeat. It would be nice if lower score had additional lesson or extra trials. SIGH!
  • Too glitchy to spend money on

I was very excited about this app, but the speech recognition doesn't seem to work. The very first part of the first lesson had me repeat "Hola" into my microphone, but said I was wrong every time. I tried Duolingo and haven't had a problem with their speech recognition. And their program is free! I would rather not spend my money on glitchy software.

  • Great learning app

It's worth the money. I've seen some complaints about the cost, but this is a quality app and I'm happy to pay for it. There was also a promotion where you could pay just $1 for a month subscription, with this app that can be a lot of learning because it makes it quick and easy to remember new words. I've already recommended it to 3 of my close friends, it's great. The dialogue practice is the best feature on the app, where you get to see your new vocabulary put to use in real life scenarios. Only issue I have with it, is when I speak the words and it listens to see I pronounced them right, it seems as though it isn't very accurate to reading my voice. But maybe I just need to practice my accent
  • Good in some ways

I wish one could go back a step or more, if you mistype etc. or simply for review. As it is, you have to do the whole exercise again. There seems to be too wide a gap between the simple vocabulary exercises and the rapidly spoken, much more complex dialogues.
  • Doesn't hear me

I LOVED this app during my first lesson, and was about to purchase it to keep learning. But I wanted to review the first lesson once more before moving forward. Thankfully I did because the microphone doesn't hear me anymore. It says it's listening (all the setting are on) but it never accepts my answer
  • Doesn't work

Crap. Subscription doesn't work after paying for it. Stuck in spinning circle forever.

Download it, read reviews, then delete it.
  • Waste of money

Stupid app won't even accept the plan I already paid for. Can't take any lessons and wasted my money.
