  • Streaming is almost useless

Tidal hands down the best audio quality of any music app. The issue is that streaming music is very buggy and trying to keep a playlist going without it stopping is virtually impossible. This has nothing to do with download speed it just for some reason keeps stopping. The only way to efficiently play music is to download it.

  • no listening for free

Tidal does not let you listen to music for free (while being interrupted by advertisements) as many other music apps do. To hear even one song on Tidal it gives you an option of “Choose a subscription” or “Already Subscriber” with subscriptions being either $12.99 or $25.99 per month. So downloading a “free” app is pointless unless you want to pay either $12.99 or $25.99. I’m already subscribed to two other music apps and I’m not interested I. Subscribing to Tidal. All I wanted to do was to hear a playlist that a friend created in Tidal. Guess what I can’t do it unless I pay for subscription... 😳

Tidal offers FLAC/lossless streaming for 19.99/month and not many services that I know of even offer lossless music. Apple currently streams at 9.99/month for 256 AAC and Tidal streams at 320 AAC for 9.99/month. Tidal is definitely winning in terms of better quality music streaming. I would gladly pay Apple more to stream CD quality but they won’t give me the option with their service. Apple also need to offer 320 AAC if they plan on keeping me as a loyal customer. I’m close to switching to Tidal based on sound quality. I like the Tidal interface. I like the look and feel (sleek and modern), with the exception of how one must add music. I love the spinning cd while music is playing. Very jukebox like. A few notes/questions to the Tidal developers... Why is it I can only download a full album instead of just individual tracks? One is allowed to favorite a track to stream later but there is no option for downloading it individually. If you want to download a single song from an album you must add it to a playlist and then download the playlist. Ridiculous? Yes. This is just disappointing for me. I also don’t like Tidals home page. It never pretends to know my likes by putting artists or songs there that I would like to see. Every time I open the app I am staring at ONLY rap and hip hop artists and a listing of songs laden with disgusting language. To each his own but I don’t want to see or hear that stuff EVERY time I open my music app. I like variety. CHANGE IT UP. ALSO music randomly stops playing mid song at times on Tidal regardless of whether it is music being streamed or offline music that has been downloaded. Definitely a glitch. A HUGE glitch. I don’t see a pre-amp anywhere on the desktop app unless I am missing it somewhere. With that said... the desktop app on my Mac is WAY better than iTunes. Folds and tons better. Good looking and functional. The way we are allowed to organize albums on Tidal should be expanded further. You have the technology and the Brains. Just do it. Lossless streaming IS great but you are greedy, Tidal. I won’t pay for lossless until it goes down to 14.99. All in all.... I MAY switch fully over to Tidal, especially if Apple doesn’t step up its game and offer at least 320 AAC streaming or at least 320 AAC for downloaded offline tracks. The sound is definitely cleaner and more spacious on Tidal. Get with it Apple!!

Since this started, this is the only way I use listen to music on my phone. I like that there are sneak peeks of music first on the app!
  • For the artist

Since I started using Tidal all of the music I love comes in sequence. From hip-hop to jazz, I hear it all on one playlist. Easy to use. I love it
  • Great sound, all the music and extras

The sound can’t be beat. Ha. Really everything sounds great. I have heard parts in songs that I never heard or key notes. So clear. I find everything I want to listen to and it makes my day and matches mood. Also the extra videos and concerts are great. I just wish there was a way to clear the cache. I can’t seem to just start a whole new playlist just a first song.
