  • Can’t sync since update

I can’t sync between devices since the update!
  • New update does not work, crashes on every launch

Updated 10/17 and now the app crashes every time I launch
  • Buggy App

    By Bigguy2211
I went through three times, trying to figure why my balance was off, either because of a mistake I made or the software, and on one transaction I had as an expense, it showed a positive sign by it, with red to the right of the inputted expense. When I went in to edit the transaction, up at the top, it was checked marked as an expense. But when I checked he income box, the transaction switched over to an expense like it should of been to begin with, then if I checked marked expense again, it added the number as an income, totally backwards. I emailed the developers, and they must be busy individuals, I understand but this bug could be costly for someone counting on this app to help them keep up with their money. Because of my point, One star until fixed.
  • Best finance app

This app has always been the best for finance tracking, especially across multiple users. The only thing that was holding it back was asking for a rating and that’s been removed!
  • Much improved...budgeting is still terrible

UPDATE: So, I've continued to use MoneyWiz 2 (and am looking forward to great things from MoneyWiz 3) and feel the app has earned another star. Performance has improved significantly and, while the interface still has a "form over substance" to it in certain respects, I've gotten used to it. Since my original review, the devs released a Windows desktop client that's really strong. The release version had significant performance issues, but it keeps getting better and better. There are certain things that need improving, though: 1. Unlike YNAB, you can't sort by cleared/uncleared or reconciled/unreconciled. You can click the column in the client, but it still just sorts by date. This is really annoying, and is a YNAB feature I really appreciate. Without it, old, uncleared transactions can get lost and cause some confusion when you reconcile (I don't subscribe to the banking service - I like to reconcile the old fashioned way). 2. Maybe it's just me, but I clear and reconcile items at the same time, so having separate columns for that status seems a little counter-intuitive. Again, that's probably just me. 3. The desktop client doesn't remember the column widths I set. This is really annoying. 4. It'd be nice if I could change font sizes and weights. 5. I wish the desktop client would show alternating background colors in the account displays (e.g., grey and white), like a checkbook register. Spreadsheet lines work, but the look and feel is lacking. For all these criticisms, I like the desktop client. I use MW2 on an iPhone, iPad, and Android tablet (and, of course, the desktop), and the similar look and feel across all devices is nice. The Android client lacks some of the polish of the iOS client, but it works. Reports are solid, and custom reports are powerful. The real issue with MW2 hasn't changed since day 1: the budgeting capability is terrible. Absolutely terrible. A budget should have categories and sub-categories with by-sub, by-category and overall roll-up budget amounts and tracking/trending. MW2's implementation of budgets doesn't allow for this. Every budget item is an island. The lack of proper budgeting in MW2 is its biggest downfall. The devs should look at YNAB for a great example of how to do it right. One last thought: I imported 5 years of data into MW2, and have used it for 2 years. It's database management is really solid, and nothing's slowed down. By contrast, YNAB4 (which I continue to use alongside MW2 - see rant about budgets, above) is choking on the same data. YNAB's solution? Start a new budget? No thanks - I like historic data. And nYNAB? I'm not going to be forced into a software-as-a-service subscription model. MoneyWiz allows me to buy up front, subscribe to banking services separately, or even do a full subscription model like YNAB4. You get options with MW2. How about that, right? gets better. And I'm hopeful for MW3. 4-stars for now, though, and worth buying, as who knows how long it'll be before MW3 comes out? /END UPDATE/ I am a long-time PocketMoney user, but that app's slow death sent me looking for an alternative, and MoneyWiz 2 is one of the best I've found. It's slower than PM, and the interface isn't nearly as intuitive, but the devs are making improvements slowly. Performance on an iPhone 5S is barely adequate. I'm assuming iPhone 6 and later users will have a better experience (it runs very well on my iPad Air 2). The SYNCbits service concerns me a little, as I'd prefer to let MW2 store my data on DropBox or iCloud, and the sync function, itself, is a little wonky. I also use YNAB, and its DropBox sync is flawless (between multiple devices in different OS ecosystems). I don't understand why the devs went with SYNCbits, and I'd be a lot happier if I could choose my sync service. All-in-all, if the devs continue to grow MW2 - and release an effective Windows desktop client - I'll give the program another star. Or not: I paid for MW2, and yet it nagged me to write a review for so long that I finally did. Hey devs! Do you want 1-star reviews? Then keep asking your paying customers for them. *That's* how you get 1-star reviews!

I used to keep track of my finances with Quickbooks. Switched to Moneywiz 3 months ago and couldn't be more pleased. So easy to use and access from my phone, iPad or PC. Always up to date! Highly recommend.

Perfect app for my personal finances!!!
  • The best thus far for multi currency support

I haven't found better for multi-currency support. I do wish the budgeting would be a little more useable (for example, to add extra money to a budget category on the fly) and the currency conversions get goofy when you adjust a budget category. Otherwise, if you review your money monthly and use and envelope system it works fine.
